ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

SCOUTS New Zealand promotes many activities and events throughout the year to compliment our weekly programmes run locally.

Gang Shows, JOTA (Jamboree on the Air), JOTI (Jamboree on the Internet), MudSlide Day, Jamborees for Scouts, Venture for Venturers, Charity Golf Tournament and international Jamborees, to name just a few, provide adventurous activities across all Scouting ages.

   Cockle Bay Venturers Great Barrier Expedition

The trip was from 27th Dec to 3rd January on Great barrier Island. 11 Venturers from Cockle Bay undertook their Gold Venturer Award expedition, they spent 4 days tramping over 60kms, involving more than 5000m ascent/decent and the highest point of the tramp was the sumit of Mount Hobson, at 627m the highest point on the island. They finished the tramp on New Years Eve and had a double celebration to see in the new decade, and to celebrate completing the expedition. By way of some R & R they then spent the next 3 days lazing on the perfect white sandy beaches of Great Barrier, returning home to Howick on 3rd Jan
